LLC Haskoning was commissioned by MorstroyTechnology to define the technological processes and solutions for handling existing and future cruise liners and Ro-Ro ferries at the new ferry and cruise terminal and associated passengers, baggage and vehicles.

The Port of Sochi is located on the coast of the Black Sea.  The port handles both cargo and passengers and there is also a small marina.  As part of the reconstruction of the Port of Sochi it is planned to develop a new international centre for passenger sea transportation and cruises to provide for entrance of large-tonnage cruise liners during the period of Winter Olympic Games 2014 and for development of tourism in the city.  The development will include a harbour for cruise ships and ro-ro passenger/car ferries with a throughput capacity of at least 215,000 passengers per year with provision for future expansion to meet demand.

The proposed development will handle both international and regional traffic and will comprise berths for cruise liners and Ro-Ro ferries protected by a new breakwater together with associated terminals for handling passengers, baggage and cars.
